The Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Lebanon, Mr.
Edwin Ostos Alfonso, received a delegation from the Palestinian Institute for
Human Rights (witness), headed by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Hanafi, Director of the
Foundation, and with the participation of the human rights defender Hassan
Al-Sayda.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the general
situation in the occupied Palestinian territory and the grave violations of
international law and human rights. The delegation of witness praised the
advanced and supportive position of the Republic of Colombia towards
international justice and the Palestinian cause, considering that Colombia's
position represents a moral voice in the face of the ongoing injustice against
the Palestinian people.
For his part, Ambassador Alfonso stressed that his country's
position on the Palestinian issue is a principled and firm position, stemming
from respect for international law and human rights, and will continue within
this framework in support of justice and peace.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation handed over an
official memorandum to the Colombian Foreign Minister, Laura Camila Sarabia
Torres, through the ambassador, including a call to strengthen the Colombian
position in support of the Palestinian right, and to advocate for trends aimed
at stopping violations and holding those responsible accountable in
international forums.
