On Tuesday, May 7, 2025, a delegation from the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) visited the Turkish Embassy in Beirut, where they met with H.E. Turkish Ambassador Mr. Murat Lütem. The delegation included Dr. Mahmoud Hanafi, Director of the organization; Mr. Mohammad Al-Shouli, Head of Public Relations; and human rights activist Mr. Alaa Moussa.
The delegation discussed with the Ambassador various human rights concerns related to the war on Gaza, particularly the prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the Strip and the forced displacement occurring in the West Bank. They also addressed the situation of Palestinian refugees in the diaspora, and presented him with a copy of the organization’s 2024 Annual Report.
The (Witness) delegation emphasized the importance of Turkey’s role in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people in international forums and highlighted the need to maintain the continuity of UNRWA’s operations.
For his part, Ambassador Lütem reaffirmed his country’s firm position in support of the Palestinian cause and its commitment to international law, praising the human rights role of (Witness) and affirming the just nature of the Palestinian struggle.
This visit comes as part of the ongoing human rights efforts led by the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) with countries that support the Palestinian cause. It is also part of a series of meetings organized with diplomatic missions accredited in Lebanon, aimed at broadening awareness of the Palestinian issue, promoting advocacy in international and human rights forums, and strengthening global solidarity with the Palestinian people.
