A delegation from the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) visited the Japanese Embassy in Beirut today, Friday (09/05/2025), where they met with the Japanese Ambassador, Mr. Masayuki Magoshi. The delegation included the Director of the Organization, Dr. Mahmoud Hanafi, the Director of Public Relations, Mr. Mohammad Al-Shouli, and the human rights researcher, Mr. Alaa Moussa.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed the situation of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and the legal and humanitarian challenges they face, including the urgent need to complete the reconstruction of Nahr al-Bared camp due to its importance for the stability of hundreds of Palestinian families.
The discussion also addressed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing blockade and the prevention of aid entry. (Witness) delegation stressed the need to intensify international pressure to open humanitarian corridors and ensure the delivery of urgent medical and food aid to the civilian population. The delegation emphasized Japan’s important role in supporting these efforts within legal and humanitarian frameworks.
The delegation commended Japan's continued support for the Palestinian cause and stressed the importance of strengthening this support in international forums, particularly concerning the rights of refugees, their right of return, and the legal protection guaranteed by international law.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented the Ambassador with a copy of the 2024 Annual Report.
For his part, Ambassador Masayuki Magoshi reaffirmed his country’s steadfast position in support of the Palestinian people and Japan’s respect for the principles of international law. He praised the human rights and humanitarian work carried out by (Witness) and reaffirmed the justness of the Palestinian cause.
