"Witness" Welcomes the decision of the Lebanese government
Distribution of textbooks to students in public schools, without exception
The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness), welcomed the decision of the Lebanese government allocated money to pay for textbooks in the public schools for non-Lebanese students of Syrians and Palestinians in the ranks of basic education until ninth 9th grade.
The decision of the Lebanese government in this regard, will leave a very positive impact on the hearts of all students and their parents, and make them equal to their Lebanese colleagues, although it would achieve the spirit of human rights that the educational institutions seeking to consolidate in their educational plans.
Noteworthy that the decision of the Lebanese government came after a suggestion of Minister of Education Mr. Hassan Diab to the Council of Ministers, to allocate two billion Lebanese pounds to ease the burdens imposed by the conditions of forcibly displaced to Lebanon. According to what stated by Dr. Khaldoun Sharif the Chairman of LPDC, that the ministry has circulated today Friday, 5/10/2012 this decision on all official school principals.
Earlier, "Witness" had issued a statement in this regard, and directed by the urgent appeals to the Ministry of Education, UNRWA, UNICEF, Ministry of Social Affairs and Chair of the Education Committee of MP Bahia Hariri, all these references have promised to make every possible effort to straighten things and put it in its proper humanitarian framework.
