(Witness) issues a human rights report under the title "The extent
to which Lebanon respects its international obligations towards Palestinian
refugees in Lebanon”
The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (witness) issued a
report entitled: "The extent to which Lebanon respects its international
obligations towards Palestinian refugees in Lebanon."
This report comes as part of a series of reports and studies issued
by the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (witness). And (witness) is a
human rights organization that defends Palestinian refugees in Lebanon in
accordance with international professional standards, and in this context, it
calls for the respect of the international human rights system that is ratified
by Lebanon.
This study explains the most important international conventions
and protocols ratified by Lebanon and the extent of its commitment to it, also
(witness) reports that there is an international classification that considers
Lebanon one of the most racist countries. The report also includes a monitoring
of the most prominent racist statements of Lebanese officials and journalists
dealing with Palestinian refugees in a way considered as racist and degrading.
The study concluded that the general assessment of Lebanon by
reviewing the international conventions on human rights in comparison with the
procedures and declarations indicates that there is a huge gap in this regard,
and there is a near disintegration of international obligations.
(Witness) see the respect
for human rights and the fulfillment of international obligations in all
circumstances is in the interest of the State itself. And the reasons given by
the Lebanese authorities that treating the Palestinians in Lebanon humanely
lead to resettlement cannot be accepted by international obligations.
