A delegation from the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) visited Mr. Michael Brown, Deputy Head of Mission at the Australian Embassy in Beirut, today (Thursday, April 10, 2025), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen communication with diplomatic missions and explore ways to support the human rights of Palestinian refugees.
The delegation included Mr. Mohammad Al-Shouli, Public Relations and Media Coordinator, and Mr. Alaa Moussa from the same department. The delegation presented Mr. Brown with a copy of Witness’s 2024 annual report and provided a brief overview of its main topics and recommendations, particularly those related to the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.
Mr. Brown expressed his sympathy with the Palestinian cause and reaffirmed Australia's commitment to continuing its support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), emphasizing the importance of the role played by human rights organizations in documenting violations and advancing humanitarian advocacy.
For its part, (Witness) stressed the importance of continued cooperation with the international community, especially in light of the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. They also emphasized the need to support initiatives aimed at protecting civilians and strengthening the resilience of refugees wherever they are.
