The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) condemns the
killing of three persons after shooting the mourners and demands to open a
serious and impartial investigation to prosecute those who are involved
The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) condemns, in a statement,
the killing of 3 Palestinian youths and the wounding of 12 on Sunday 12/12/2021
during the funeral of Hamza Shahin who was killed in an incident on Saturday
11/12/2021 in Abi Ibn Ka’b Mosque in Burj Al-Shamali camp in the Lebanese
southern city, Tyre.
According
to (Witness) statement, the three killed youths are Muhammad Walid Taha (30
years), from Ain al-Hilweh camp, Hussein Muhammad Al-Ahmad (22 years), from
Mieh Mieh camp, and Omar Muhammad Al-Sahli (21 years), from Mieh Mieh camp.
While there are 12 others who were injured including a serious one.
(Witness) indicated that, according to the report of the forensic doctor
and eyewitnesses, most of the injuries were in the upper part of the body.
According
to UNRWA records, 19,500 Palestinian refugees live in Burj al-Shamali camp,
most of them from northern Palestine.
(Witness)
called, in its statement, for the urgent opening of a serious impartial
investigation and prosecuting all the involved, in front of the Lebanese
judiciary, in order to avoid any repercussions on the rest of the camps.
