After a tour in Ein El Hillweh Camp, and see closely the humanitarian situation there
"WITNESS" met the leadership of the Lebanese army in the south
And get a promise to mitigate the measures that are taken around the camp
After a series of field meetings that are carried out by the Palestinian Association for Human Rights "witness" with the political forces within the camp, and after "witness" has received numerous complaints about the delaying of school and university students, , doctors, workers and employees to reach their schools or works on time, and after the tightening procedures which are implemented upon the entering and exiting people from the camp which objected of many human rights, particularly the right to move and learn and work.
In light of all these information, a delegation from "Witness" met the Director of Intelligence Branch in the south, "Brigadier Ali Shahrour", where they presented a detailed explanation about the humanitarian implications of that, and stressed at the same time on the role of the Lebanese army in maintaining security and stability in Lebanon, with respect for human rights standards, and in accordance with the international obligations of the Lebanese government in this regard.
From the other side, "Brigadier Ali Shahrour" confirmed on respect of the dignity of the Palestinian rights, and promised to take mitigation measures gradually, and in return he demanded from the Palestinian political forces to take their responsibilities towards security and stability in and around the camp.
