(Witness): The Israeli Occupation's Targeting of Displaced Persons' Tents in Rafah is a Described War Crime Requiring Urgent Action
The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) condemns the Israeli occupation's targeting of Palestinian displaced persons' tents in Rafah on the evening of Sunday, May 26, 2024, which had previously been declared safe zones for them to relocate to. This affirms that the occupation does not care about international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, which is dedicated to protecting civilians.
(Witness) asserts that this horrific crime comes after the International Court of Justice declared the necessity for the occupation to cease the ongoing genocide that has been occurring for the past eight months. This serves as a message from the Israeli occupation to the entire world that it does not care about any laws or international considerations and is determined to continue its crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) calls for urgent action to stop the ongoing genocide against Palestinian people and calls for mechanisms to ensure the enforcement of the International Court of Justice's decisions. In this context, (Witness) urges the International Criminal Court to pursue those directly responsible for committing these crimes.
