On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, a delegation from the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) conducted an official visit to the Russian Embassy in Beirut, where they met with His Excellency Mr. Alexander Rudakov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Lebanon. The delegation included Dr. Mahmoud Hanafi, Director of the Association; Mr. Mohammad Al-Shuli, Director of Public Relations; and human rights activist Mr. Alaa Mousa.
The meeting addressed several pressing human rights concerns, including the ongoing war on Gaza, the obstruction of humanitarian aid delivery, the escalating forced displacement in the West Bank, and the deteriorating conditions of Palestinian refugees across the diaspora. During the visit, the delegation presented Ambassador Rudakov with a copy of Witness’s 2024 Annual Report.
The delegation underscored the critical importance of the Russian Federation’s role in defending Palestinian rights within the United Nations Security Council and other international fora, and stressed the need to ensure the uninterrupted operations of UNRWA.
Ambassador Rudakov, in turn, reaffirmed his country’s principled stance in support of the Palestinian cause and international law. He also commended the efforts of the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) and affirmed the legitimacy and justice of the Palestinian struggle.
