During a solidarity
stand with the children of Gaza, (Witness) calls the International Committee of
the Red Cross to intervene more effectively in the war on Gaza
The
Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) organized a solidarity stand
in front of the headquarters of the International Committee of the Red Cross in
the city of Tyre on Thursday, December 14, 2023, with the participation of
dozens of Palestinian children and representatives of civil society
organizations.
Mr.
"Mohammed Shouli", Director of Public Relations and Media at the
Palestinian Association for Human Right (Witness), explained that this stand
came as an expression of the solidarity of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon with
the suffering of Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, who are subjected to
barbaric Israeli crimes. He added that Palestinian children are suffering a
double burden, due to their special circumstances and their deprivation of
their rights.
"Shouli"
called on the international community to intervene immediately and seriously to
stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza. He also stressed the need for the
International Committee of the Red Cross to strive hard to carry out its basic
tasks in Gaza, from providing basic healthcare and urgent humanitarian
assistance, as well as working to end the arbitrary detention of Palestinian
prisoners, and making an effective attempt to visit them and ensure that they
are treated in a decent manner in accordance with the provisions of
international law.
This
stand included a theatrical performance for children, which depicted the
tragedy of Palestinian children in Gaza and their exposure to numerous
violations, the most important of which is the deprivation of their right to
life. It also included a solidarity speech delivered by a child, in addition to
a collective song in which the children expressed the suffering of their peers
in Gaza.
Representatives
of the International Committee of the Red Cross participated in the stand, and
they confirmed in turn their support for Palestinian children and their rights.
They received a memorandum from the Palestinian Association for Human Rights
(Witness) that discussed the current reality in Gaza Strip and the basic
demands that fall on the International Committee of the Red Cross.
