Youth (aged 19- 35) constitute 63% of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.1 Young people suffer from severe deprivation of their fundamental social, civil, political, economic, and cultural rights. Undermined by poverty, unemployment, political divisions, hate speech, misrepresentation, and systematic discrimination under a legal ambit; young Palestinians are struggling daily. More than ever before, youth present an agent for change, development, and prosperity of their communities. Also mobilizing to advance the Sustainable Development Goals to improve the lives of people and the health of the planet. Increasing human rights awareness among young people would develop a productive and effective environment that contributes to the development process and engages in innovative solutions. Thus, to achieve development that preserves the unique cultural characteristics of society, no other given group would be more competent than the youth. Aiming to create a legally aware community that is capable of identifying human rights, spotting violations, and engaging as community-based human rights defenders; the Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) is working hands-in-hands with the Palestinian youth of Lebanon.

Know You Rights” Campaign "

The Palestinian Association for Human Rights (Witness) is organizing a human rights campaign to spread legal awareness on the fundamental rights of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. The campaign follows an inclusive approach for each and every Palestinian refugee regardless of age or social status. Under the slogan: ” For a sustainable tomorrow through Human Rights Education”, we aim to create a human rights-aware community. The campaign is not only sustainable (creating a running circuit of constant human rights education), but also abides-by and promotes the 2030 Agenda especially goals 10 and 16. Campaign goals

 • Introducing the Palestinian refugee to his basic rights.

• Shedding light on the legal status of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

• Increasing legal awareness among the different spectrums of the Palestinian society and consolidating and defending the principles of universal human rights. The campaign was launched on the 26th of October in its first step: education through social media.
