Warns of transmission of the corrupt food and goods to Palestinian camps and Gatherings in Lebanon

The Palestinian Association for Human Rights "witness" has been following with great concern what is going on in the Lebanese media about the scattered phenomenon of trading corrupt food and goods, which include frozen meat and fish, canned food, medicines, medical and contaminated drinking water and other goods, and become worried that these corrupt food may seep to the Palestinian refugee camps as apart of Lebanese societies.

In the light of what has been discovered of large quantities of corrupt food and goods which estimated of hundreds tons , its necessary to raise sound and become so alert  that this phenomena may be seep to the Palestinian refugee camps, taking the advantage of  poverty , destitution, and unemployment  that  include most people of the Palestinian camps in Lebanon.

We in the Palestinian Association for Human Rights "witness", and in this context,  call on our people in the camps to be careful and cautious of this imminent danger, and work to ensure of the validity of various commodities that are purchased either by the traders in the camps or by individuals, especially that most of the food and medicines that are  being marketed within the camps come from the Lebanese market, including meat, chicken, frozen fish, medicines and other essential commodities.

We also call the shopkeepers inside the camps who deal with various commodities, to store such goods in a good way, especially oil, milk, cheese, meat, candy, canned food, and others.

We in the Palestinian Association for Human Rights "witness" also call  the popular committees and inhabitant committees  in all Palestinian camps in Lebanon to follow  the lead of the municipalities and the Lebanese consumers protection committees and to take their role to inspect all restaurants and stores  of selling meat, fish, chicken and pharmacies within the camps and to ensure the validity of the goods that are sold or stored and to spoil expired goods,, in order to preserve public safety for all residents of the camps.
