The Palestinian Association for
Human Rights (Witness) welcomes the issuance of a historic advisory opinion by
the International Court of Justice on July 19, 2024, which affirmed the
illegitimacy of the State of Israel and the necessity of ending its occupation
of the occupied Palestinian territories.
This issuance represents a great
victory for international law and justice, and constitutes an explicit
condemnation of the Israeli occupation and its colonial policies. This advisory
opinion also reinforces the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to
self-determination and the establishment of their own independent State on
their own land.
The Palestinian Association for
Human Rights (Witness) affirms its firm belief in the principles of
international law, justice and human rights, and stresses the need to help
Palestinian people to get rid of the occupation.
(Witness) calls on all countries and
international organizations to take the necessary measures to ensure the
implementation of the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice
and to end the Israeli occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories. Also
we call on the international community to exert pressure on the occupying power
to comply with international resolutions and law.
